Baby Madyson

Yesterday I was so excited that I was going to go visit my friend and her new baby! I went into my backyard and picked flowers to bring to her.

Then we went up to the hospital to see this long awaited, two day old, bundle of love.

I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful and alert newborn in my life!

Happy Birthday Madyson! I can't wait to watch you grow up!!

Fix-It Friday!

Happy Friday everyone!!
What better way to kick off the weekend than with some re-vamping!
Ready to play a little game of "What's Missing?"

Feel free to click on any photo to enlarge and look at closer details!

I sure hope you didn't strain too hard looking for missing objects, I believe I only removed two things: The pink streak on the Left side, and that sad looking sign on the right. That's it!
Thank you for reading!

Smiles

It's I ♥ Faces weekly photo challenge time again!
This week's theme is Smiles!

HUGE Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit and comment on my collage from last week's challenge! I ended up winning 8th Place out of over 500 entries!! WOW!!!! I didn't win anything but I sure felt like I did just by making top 10!
Thank you all again!

Back to this week,
This has to be one of many of my favorite photos from last summer.
This day was so carefree. We had chocolate popsicles, picked mulberries and ate them on our porch, and just enjoyed being silly.
Not sure what I said to get this reaction, but I love the end result!

Can't wait to see what the forthcoming summer days have to offer us this year!

Be sure to check out some of the many other fantastic entries!

My Sweet, Not-So-Little Baby.

There is nothing I love more than to watch my little boy sleep.

Aside from the fact that he's not getting into things he's not supposed to be in to,
I can get a glimpse, ever so slightly, of that little baby he used to be.

And even though I miss the tiny being I used to rock, pat, and nurse,
I am loving this little person he is growing up to be.
And even more so, knowing that he's all mine.

The days are flying by all too fast.
I live in the moment, and save these memories
for a day when I look back on them, and wish so badly to kiss his eyes, nose, cheeks, lips when he sleeps his sweet dreams, one last time.

How I hope that day doesn't come for a long, long time.

I find it completely adorable how he passed out in the middle of his second replay of Alvin and the Chipmunks tonight!

Moments.

For a long while, I wanted a certain feel to my photos. I wanted them captured a certain way, with ease and emotion. I wanted to capture.. moments. Not that I haven't captured moments, but I've had my trusty Nikon D60 for a long while and for that long while I struggled with getting photos the way I really envisioned. I struggled with the limits of my camera, but used it the very best that I could.

Today, a leap forward was made for Lauren Alexis Photography, as I gratuated to a lovely D300s.
It was love at first click.
And my 50mm lens, perfection.
These two were pratically made for each other.

Today, I had so much fun playing and getting to know my new colleague. And in the process, I captured.. moments.

And ofcourse, enjoying a moment to myself.

Collage

One of my favorite things about collages is making the photos all come together and sometimes tell a story. They are also a fun way to display a handful of photos in one picture frame.

This week's photo challenge theme at I ♥ Faces is, well, collages!

When my friend Steffeni came to me with an idea for a photoshoot with her son, I couldn't jump on it faster! The end result had me laughing at the utter cuteness that we captured that day, and I knew there was a collage to be made of our fun session that day!

Click photo to view larger!

My favorite collage making program is Photoscape, it's easy and most importantly, FREE!
There are well over 100 different page layouts to choose from and you can easily slide photos right in, and Voila, you have your own collage!

Looking forward to seeing all the different collages other readers come up with!

On The Go.

There are times, alot of times infact, that I forget or just don't want to lug my camera around because I figure that we would not be doing anything exciting that day.
Then when said exciting activity or event happens I am forever kicking myself in the rear.
Sure, I have a camera phone, but if I only knew how much I hate the darn thing before I bought it...

Then I read a post that Sugar, Snips, and Snaps posted recently about using your camera phone to get great shots, and it dawned on me that I could download a new camera program for my phone!

I downloaded the CameraFX application that she mentioned, and it was like angels singing as I took photos. I am proud to say I actually ENJOY taking photos with my Droid now!

And today while we were out and about our normal everyday boring life, something exciting actually DID happen and I was able to capture them in a way I never had before!

While driving home from a friend's house, we saw a horse stable with the prettiest horses I had ever seen. We pulled over and spent some time getting to know them, and vice versa.

At first, Elliott was really excited and couldn't stop talking about the "baby horses!"
But as they walked towards us, I think he realized how big they really were, and chickened out.

They were just the sweetest horses.
This one in particular came up to me and just started licking my hand!

Elliott saw how friendly these giants really were, and enjoyed giving feeding them some fresh grass from the other side of the fence.
I think they rather enjoyed it themselves.

We made some new friends today, and if it wasn't for this amazing find, I would never be able to look back on this fun impromptu moment the way I can now!

What's your favorite cellphone photo/camera application, if you use one?

The Perfect Day.

Driving home from work today, I had the windows rolled down to let the warm wind blow my hair, country music playing, evening sun bright and warm in my eyes. I glanced in my rearview mirror to see my smiling child in the backseat and I suddenly had the urge for photos.

It came over me so hard that I got home as soon as possible, threw on a quick change of clothes, grabbed the husband and my camera, and went outside.

We took the long way to the playground, walking around the neighborhood just enjoying this absolutely perfect day.
Perfect.

We walked down our street.
Took a breather.
Made a silly face. Or two.
And then I was ready for adventure.
I picked flowers
for the ones I love.

I made new friends.
Took a dare.
And was just happy to be alive.

With busy schedules and family time scarce, this simple walk around the block and just getting out of the house for a little bit was something our family really needed.
And boy how the time did fly! Before we knew it, the sun had set, and it was time to go home. I was sad to see this perfect day end, but I look forward to what the rest of the week will hold for us.

Perfect perfect day.
