Past, Present, Future

Together may our dreams become tomorrow's memories
Together may our hopes and plans become realities
Together may the love we share become a way of life
Together may each day find us a happy man and wife
Together may that be the way for all our life.

Three years ago today I married my love and best friend.
Thank you for being my rock and everlasting support, and allowing me to follow my dreams.
I love you so much and look forward to what life has in store for our family.
Happy Anniversary, to my wonderful husband.

Newest Family Member

We had such a great vacation, I almost kicked and screamed insiting we could stay another week. But alas, I was a good girl and got in the car and sulked the entire 12 hour drive home.
Okay, not really, but it sounded like a good idea!

I got to spend time with my family and most importantly, getting to meet the newest member of the family, my beautiful baby nephew Miles Lawson

And even more importantly, having Elliott meet his first cousin.

OMG my uterus THROBS at this photo!

Dramatic Black and White

This week's I ♥ Faces Photo Contest is the theme "Dramatic B&W"
Of all the photos I have ever shot, there are two that stand out to me. But because I can only share one per rules state, one you get!

For some reason when I think Black & White, I think of this photo.
Not sure if it's the angle, the amazing tree, the sunlight peeking through, or the mother/daughter connection going on, that is what's really pulling me in.
This photo just speaks volumes to me when in Black & White, but is it dramatic enough?
What do you think?

Fix-It Friday!

I thought I would participate in one fun challenge that I felt like I have been waiting for FOREVER since I found I Heart Faces blog.. okay, it really has only been a few days but still! I wanted to show off my edit to the photo of this week's challenge! My first fix-it challenge! I win a cookie, no?

Click photo to enlarge, or here for the original 'after'

See how I took this low lighted and dull photo and turned it into something with POP! Granted, not the best POP! I've done, but it's late, give me some credit.
I may have cheated or is it cheating? by using from my awesome collection of Photoshop actions, but hey, what can I say. I do what I know how to do best. Not cheat, that is! COUGH COUGH.

To make a long editing story short, you can achieve this similar by knowing basic Photoshop skills if you do not have the help of actions at your fingertips.

1. Duplicate layers! This helps if you ever need the original layer later on or to start over.
2. Adjust curves to correct exposure
3. Color balance correction
4. Color Saturation adjustment That's where the POP! is.
5. Skin fixing by airbrushing skin color over areas set at only 10% opacity, repeat as needed but be careful not to overdo.
6. Vigneting (you can, ahem, cheat by airbrushing black at about a 10% opacity a few times in the corners and edges)
7. Have fun with it! Tweak here and there until photo is to your satisfaction! Save and share!

Hope this helps some of you! Hope that you take advantage of I Heart Faces Fix-it Friday Challenge, I would LOVE to see what you guys end up with!!

Road Trip!

This Saturday we will be packing up our SUV rental (yessss!) and heading down to Okalhoma to visit my little sister and her new baby. 13 hours sounds like nothing after our 24 hour drive to Colorado last year after we got lost in the mountains, and THANK GOD for portable DVD players!
I decided it would probably be a good idea to get the luggage out of the garage and start packing, only I got lucky and found a special surprise in mine.

Aparently my stowaway had stowaways!

Looks like I'm not the only one ready for a Vacation!

The Calm Before the Storm.

I am pretty excited....

Okay, I'm not going to lie.
I'm pulling out my hair right now.

I am about 110% sure that the Terrible Two's are here and in full force.
Elliott has been getting into everything. EVERYTHING.
And the words "No! Put that down! Don't touch that! Get down before you fall!!" just don't exist in his dictionary. Sometimes I don't even think his name is really his name.
It's exhausting I tell you.

These last few days have been interesting. It has almost as if he has been taking every little thing he has been observing, hearing, and learning for the last two years and just applied it all at once, and decided to use it for bad rather than good! Not only is he using this newly applied smarts to get into things he shouldn't be, but almost overnight he has grown in the way he talks to us (using 3-4 sentences at a time and having an actual conversation), writing, drawing.. it's all completely mind blowing.
Oh, let's not forget his new skill of perfecting the temper tantrum.

This evening, he was jumping on our bed when he suddenly got quiet.
Alarms in our heads went off since, well, you NEVER trust a quiet two year old. We have learnt the hard way, many times.

Suddenly I hear my husband yell at me to hurry and see something, and I automatically assume the worst.
My mind starts to race at what my little explorer could possibly be into this time.. My makeup? I hope not. My underwear drawer? He better not. My shoes? That could be funny..
And do what I always do when I know I'm getting ready to walk into a disaster, grab the camera.

But much to my surprise, I see such a sweet sight.

My hyper freebird of a son, is fast asleep.

It really took me back, and I was in awe of this beautiful sight. I just couldn't think of a better way to capture this rare and precious moment than this.

Just like the calm before the storm, this little whirlwind is just gearing up for his next big adventure tomorrow.
But for now, I'm enjoying just a little bit of quiet!
